NetSuite Store Implementation Tips - Product Attributes

Wanted to share some NetSuite Ecommerce Implementation tips with you all. We received a lot of requests in the past, for customizations about Advanced Searches, Product Wizards, and more dynamic catalogs. Although we say "YES, Its doable" most of the time, 99% of the time, we ask them about their catalog and items records and they don't have any Product attributes, that differentiate items, so it really difficult to create a navigation structure. Product Attributes are critical for any dynamic or database driven website.

Even if you will use Published Saved Searches, one of the most important elements for defining a dynamic navigation or criteria is product attributes.

This is how Amazon for example defines their Navigation, by narrowing by attributes until you get to the exact matches.

Check this example

So, before you start planning your NetSuite website implementation or re design/implementation think, think an think about your funnels and navigation channel. How will people find the exact product they are looking for.

Hope it helps.

Mutilple Options Field Type in NetSuite

I don't know if you have noticed, but the highly acclaimed "Multiple Options" Type Field is now available in Custom Item fields.

This is really amazing for e-commerce and catalog exports and reporting.

I tried it tonight on Transaction item options and it is not available (for obvious reasons), although in some business models it would apply.

Anyways, just wanted to share this new option!

NetSuite charging on Ecommerce Transactions

I got this email 30 minutes ago, at the same time I was talking to a "very powerful" NetSuite Ecommerce customer. As soon as I downloaded the email, I told him that what I got wasnt one of the best news I could tell him, but he had to know what was going on.

Transaction Fee Summary

  • First 6,000 (500 per month) web store transactions per year are free
  • Flat fee of $0.50 per web store order will apply beyond the quarterly allotment of 1500/quarter free web orders
  • Applies to new business & existing customers upon renewal
  • Applies to all Suites except NetSuite CRM and CRM+
Wow!!!

My first thought or question was, "Why would NetSuite do this, if one good differentiator to other e-commerce platforms was that they didn't charge a transaction fee? At the same time I noticed that it was a fixed fee and wasnt based on transaction percentages, so it was a good option.

I am not very clear today on my thoughts about this move, BUT, although everyone will be complaining, the one option out there to compliment this new "measure" is to think that the price of NetSuite will stay steady for a while.
